Debra Chandler

Debra (Debbie) Chandler retired from the Florida Bar in August, 2025.  In addition to practicing law, Ms. Chandler taught Criminal and Constitutional Law at Florida Atlantic University as an adjunct professor for over ten years.

Ms. Chandler serves on several non-profit boards and is the immediate past co-president of the League of Women Voters of Florida. She served on the state and local board of directors for the League prior to her election as co-president.

In 2018, after the passage of a local 1 penny sales tax, she was appointed by the County Commission to serve on the oversight committee for spending the funds. She has been appointed to consecutive two-year terms and is still serving her community today.

She is a member of the Class of 2018, Leadership Palm Beach County, a current board member of Royal Palm Bons Vivants, a past board member of the Exchangettes of Northern Palm Beach County, a past board member of the ACLU of Palm Beach County and a past member of the ACLU Legal Panel.

Ms. Chandler is a native of Palm Beach County, Florida. She attended elementary and high school in the county and graduated in 1981 from Florida Atlantic University with a BSS degree in Criminal Justice.  She obtained her law degree from Florida State University College of Law in 1983 and began practicing criminal defense, working as an assistant Public Defender for about 25 years.
