SNAP Matters

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the most important safety net protecting persons from food insecurity in Florida. Every month, SNAP provides food assistance to households with low incomes who are struggling to put food on the table. The Food and Nutrition Services of the United States Department of Agriculture administers the program from the federal level and the Florida Department of Children and Families runs the program at the state level. This public-private partnership also plays a critical role in bettering the short- and long-term health, education, and economic security of food insecure households and their communities.
