Florida can't thrive without immigrants, yet this state legislation would target them

Perhaps more than any other state, Florida has long attracted immigrants, migrants from other states and tourists. Over time, our economy and communities have come to rely on this. Yet, while the state regularly appeals to tourists and other visitors, a measure now in the Legislature would set a decidedly less hospitable tone toward immigrants.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is pushing an unnecessary bill, SB 1808/HB 1355, dubbed “Immigration Enforcement.” It would target undocumented immigrants, especially children, and entangle Florida further in federal immigration policy.
